NEW DISCOVERY ABOUT DEPOT!

Aug 20, 2020

Historian Kaye Buffaloe Whaley has recently discovered that the historic Garner Depot is actually older than originally thought: it dates to at least 1900. Mrs. Whaley discovered an interesting article in a 1900 issue of the News & Observer which indicates that the Depot in Garner was robbed that year. (The thief or thieves only got away with a can of tobacco!) DEPOT MOVED: The Historic Garner Depot and Caboose were moved on Saturday, December 14, 2019, and placed on the Pearl and Main Street site. Both structures have been placed on new permanent foundations and exterior repairs to the Depot are taking place. The Garner Depot Museum is on its way!
