Wake County Public Libraries, in partnership with the Garner Area Historical Society, presented a National Native American Heritage Month Program on November 21at Garner’s Southeast Regional Library. Ms. Marvel Welch, a member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, one of eight recognized tribes in North Carolina, spoke about her extensive knowledge of Native American history. The Garner Area Historical Society featured a display at the library of local Native American artifacts which have been donated or loaned to the Garner History Museum at the Depot.
