Black History Month at the Depot

Feb 10, 2026

The Garner History Museum at the Depot celebrates Black History Month in February. Our displays include memorabilia from the historic Meadowbrook Country Club, founded in 1958 as one of the first Black country clubs in the southeast and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. We also highlight Black business owners from the Garner area and will have a “Black History Quiz Bowl”. The game is available every Wednesday and Saturday, 2:00pm to 4:00pm from February 14th through Wednesday, March 4th. Come by and test your knowledge of black history in areas like Civil Rights Movement Icons, Historical Firsts and Milestones, Literary Legends, Music and Musicians, Sports Pioneers and several others. There is even a category about Garner history!

The Quiz Bowl game has a total of eleven categories – each player will choose four. There are prizes for highest score overall and in each category. The first 12 people to play the game will receive a Black History Month gift set.
